As part of Verdant Global's Volunteer program, in this community with the Rural Summer School. Pupils engagement started on 30th July, 2018. This project seek to educate school children on Climate change (global warming) through waste management and recycling and also learning through fun games . The first week was a bit challenging where most volunteers weren't around and the in-community volunteers also didn't keep to expectations.
The kids participated in all the fun games held within the week. They were group into teams namely Eagle, Butterfly, Ant, Elephant, Sheep, Cat, Rabbit and Bat. Scores were awarded to teams that came out victorious in each game. Tasks were assigned to each of the teams to bring plastic waste to school every day with the aim of this project on global warming to be achieved.
Language barrier was a bit of a challenge because some of the kids and volunteers do not understand; the local language ( Klogbi) and English for better understanding of each other. We have interesting projects coming up in the coming weeks.
