Verdant Global Boti Community Project

For Week 2, Verdant Global commenced it’s kids engagement via the Summer project at Boti community in the Eastern region of Ghana, on Monday 30th of July, 2018.
The Summer program was initiated to impact Primary school and Junior High school students with necessary knowledge in Science, Literacy, and Numeracy through fun games and creative Arts; and educate them on Climate change and global warming through recycling of plastic waste products to produce useful items for the community. The children at the Summer program were from Boti R/C Primary school and Boti R/C Junior High school.
In the first week, the volunteers briefed the children on the objectives of the Summer project and grouped them into teams to encourage healthy competition and working together. They also led the teams to select team names and battle cries / slogans as well as engage in various educational games and activities, carrying out various tasks during the Summer program. Outstanding and winning teams for projects and games were applauded.
The children also had Lessons in Science, English and Mathematics as well as other learning activities during the week.
The first week witnessed some challenges which included inconsistency of students and Volunteers, as well as extension of program sessions and daily lessons due to late coming of participants.
The Verdant Global Volunteer team is looking forward to implementing more structured Summer projects and activities in the next four weeks of the project duration.
