Verdant Global Week 3 Boti Community Blog

Verdant Global Boti community summer school second week ended so let's look back on what was achieved.The games and other extramural activities were moved to the morning instead of the afternoon with the objective of attracting more kids at 8 o'clock. Indeed the teams which had more members were more likely to win the games. They're organized on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Additionally, creative activities encouraging waste management were added on the Tuesday and Thursday morning. The courses continued as usual from 9am to 12noon except for Friday where an ICT session was organized by one of our partners, Young at Heart Ghana. Additionally, we have planned an awareness event for next week Thursday, 16th August aiming at the entire community as part of the International Youth Day 2018. Week 3 Blog for Osubuɛ Project

Volunteers started this week with much energy, planning of the International youth day celebration. With passion filled on Monday morning, the volunteers walked from Boti to community(Osubuɛ). The Team(Volunteers) later passed by the Chief (Osubuɛ) to Finalize Discussion on some relevant issues. On Special observation by the Volunteers, it was realized some of kids were not really picking up with what's been taught so volunteers made it more Practically adaptable by taking the kids outside the classroom to the Surrounding. A visit was also made later that day to Francis, one of the in-community volunteers  of who was ill. Class got interesting the next day when one of the partner Organizations arrived in the community and was picked up by one of the Volunteers to the School.The kids were engaged in a gaming activity. Verdant Global Boti Community Project

For Week 2, Verdant Global commenced it’s kids engagement via the Summer project at Boti community in the Eastern region of Ghana, on Monday 30th of July, 2018. The Summer program was initiated to impact Primary school and Junior High school students with necessary knowledge in Science, Literacy, and Numeracy through fun games and creative Arts; and educate them on Climate change and global warming through recycling of plastic waste products to produce useful items for the community. The children at the Summer program were from Boti R/C Primary school and Boti R/C Junior High school. In the first week, the volunteers briefed the children on the objectives of the Summer project and grouped them into teams to encourage healthy competition and working together. Verdant Global Osubuɛ Rural Summer Project

Osubuɛ is a small farming community within the Eastern Region which is in the land of the Klo. The population is not a huge one. As part of Verdant Global's Volunteer program, in this community with the Rural Summer School. Pupils engagement started on 30th July, 2018. This project seek to educate school children on Climate change (global warming) through waste management and recycling and also learning through fun games . The first week was a bit challenging where most volunteers weren't around and the in-community volunteers also didn't keep to expectations. The kids participated in all the fun games held within the week. They were group into teams namely Eagle, Butterfly, Ant, Elephant, Sheep, Cat, Rabbit and Bat. Scores were awarded to teams that came out victorious in each game. Verdant Global In-community Volunteer program 2018

A team of volunteers from Verdant Global(NGO) are at Boti and Osubuɛ communities in the Eastern region of Ghana to facilitate their annual Rural Summer program for Basic school pupils. The summer project would feature hands-on practical sessions on ICT, reading / Literacy, Numeracy, Creative Arts, capacity building, Science, team building game sessions amongst others. The program is scheduled to commence on Monday 30th July, 2018. The organisation conceived the need to implement the volunteer-led project after a survey was carried out in the rural communities in the Eastern region, indicating that the children were mainly idle during the long School vacation. Unlike children from the urban areas whose parents pay to enroll them in Summer classes where they learn new skills, most Parents and Guardians of rural community children cannot afford to send them to special classes during summer.
